i spent much of my time over the weekend going through my previous posts, looking at photos taken throughout this entire jouney. right from tekong to day1 in ocs, from ocs to socc and from socc back to safti. reliving and smiling at the fun times we had, the many friendships forged and the memories that will be with us. i know that many years down the road when i look back at my ns life, there will be much to laugh over kopi about, experiences to share and tricks to teach the next generation. indeed this route to officership has been both enriching and fufilling, im glad i never gave up.

taiwan was a little overhyped to me. training was well, okay but 8days outfield will drive you insane. r&r wasnt THAT exciting, maybe because we had the 2359 curfew and also had troubles finding out where the happening places were. their food tho, deserves a thumbs up

graduated from the course last last friday with my parents attending the ceremony and you sort of get that warm feeling when you see your parents happy and smiling because you know they're proud of you. that, was quite a moment

so im back at safti now with 2 weeks more and then its the throwing of peak caps on the 14th which officially marks the end of cadet life. well, i think ill miss everything, from the happy times in bunk to the dozing off anywhere and everywhere and possibly maybe the emo book ins? haha

yes, a brand new year and nothing beats entering it with the people dearest to me. it has been a good blessed year; from the countless supper with guys to countless supper with couples, from enlisting into the army to leaving for brunei tonight, from being taught in sch to teaching in sch. the list goes on and im glad i did manage to accomplish certain goals that ive set for myself.

this year we'll see many of us sinking deeper into the army, enlistment for those still sucking their thumbs, ord for ws and hopefully i'll commission together with the rest of my batch. its gonna be yet another exciting year, embracing new friends new changes and new places. as i said before, being in the twenties is gonna be the time and i wish everyone, the best of luck.

chinese new year is just round the corner, i still cant believe im 21 this year.

christmas is here but somehow this year it just doesnt feel like christmas. perhaps its because ive been spending too much time in camp but nonetheless, merry christmas to all.

service term is just about over. with just the graduation march on christmas night left, im glad and thankful for all that has happened and friends that ive made over the past 3 months. brunei on the 2-11 of jan and then its back to my pro term in signals.

social night was great, personally i felt that it turned out to be alot better than what most of us had expected. had a good time fellowshipping, laughing as we recapped on videos taken, mixing around with everyone, spamming the camera and having an early christmas meal.

ive been too caught up with enjoying the long weekend and there seems to be so much more to be done. but well at least i managed to accomplish quite a bit; i mjed, finally caught the kingdom, zouked twice for mark's farewell and sarah's bday (which btw had a special guest), went to sitex, caught up with everyone and basically just had fun.

scorpion king was tiring no doubt but fufiling as well. knowing that we stood high despite our circumstances makes the feeling 'lagi more shiok'. this is random: combat medics are good people to talk with but they absolutely suck in what they do, esp, ESP. iv drips.

its been awhile since i found time to sit down and recap. army's been hectic, days are so packed with trainings; outfield, camps, live firings, rifle cleaning, that its almost becoming mundane. im glad i finally cleared sbj and got my ippt gold, at least now we'll have a lighter schedule. the 5 day finale fc accompanied by 1 weekend burnt is this wed. with more garang chionging, gusto war cries and incessant digging expected from us, its best that we bring along our motivation for this week.
but i know that once we clear this milestone, the end of service term will be much nearer and theres the long weekend that we'll be rewarded with.

im becoming to like trinity@pl, that place makes me happy plus we get to explore the east. im glad i have cheems to accompany me the past few weeks and looking forward to david coming back.

went sentosa and caught beowulf which to me a gd movie but hard to comprehend if you get first row seats in gv, the motion graphics deserves a thumbs up btw. much more to be done in the next book out and yeah, jo you like island creamery?

FINALLY! IM BACK FROM MY THREE WEEK CONFINEMENT.

it feels so good to be back, away from regimentation and timings, able to take a break for the time being.

the past 3 wks have been tough no doubt, and i dont think i have ever gone through anything as tough as this for 3 wks straight.

ive been doing alot of reflections recently in camp. i got exposed to lots of motivational speeches, stories and powerful quotes and i guess these are the things that have sent me thinking.

without a doubt, i wouldnt forget this trip. tsunami warnings and alert getting called on and off on the night before we left (1, 2, 3, etcs)
plus an aircrash on the day we're flying leaving us stranded for another night. but well, at least we know we can take care of ourselves. and the feeling of walking out of the arrival hall doors with all our parents rushing forward, IMBAAAAAAA hahahaha

anyway, a hard earned break from the army for most of us. we only enjoyed 1/5 sunny dayst cos it was the monsoon over in phuket so basically we spent our time eating,sleeping + nuaing and the occasional "eh lets go walk leh" so we dont feel like we're wasting our time. at night tho, it was more happening with david chut-ing stunt. not the dirty indecent bartop stunts but the suddenly collapse + faint and we thought he got spiked stunt.

ah bmt is finally over. graduation feels so good especially when you toss your cap high up with shouts and you see joy on everyone's faces. people taking photos to for memories, etc. i cant really say im happy now that its over, sort of half half; i guess the highs and lows of bmt evens out. got some photos and videos of the parade. will post more when i get back.

we had our 24km rm on wed and despite having excuse ll + heavy load and a 38deg fever i still carried on to march but was forced to fall out at the 8km rest point cos my pc found out abt my fever.
and the feeling sucks when you have to leave your mates behind and sit with random strangers at the fallout area with everyone who passes by looking at you. not just looking, but giving a 'ure a weakling, pussy' look you wished you never started marching. whats worse is when u see your mates come back after marching with their morale all high up and feeling very proud of themselves while you just suck your thumb.

oh well, thankfully i was able to redeem myself when we won games day so now we get 2 extra days of leave and we DONT NEED TO RETURN TO TEKONG DURING OUR BLOCK LEAVE! STIM AHHHHHH!

and it seems like im pretty much set for a trip to phuket over the next weekend with the homies, imba.

just came back from an outdoor service by sjsm over at dempsey. we had to like trek a little through mud and vegetation to get to our location which was damn chui cos david and i were wearing jeans and white canvas while almost everyone else were practically in slippers and shorts. it was more like an outfield service rather than outdoor.

the weekend has been great. chill and caught up with friends, played mahjong, suppers and ill be heading to kallang later to play and watch soccer tonight.

okay so the much dreaded field camp is finally over. basically, i have learnt to appreciate my bunk alot more. the bed actually feels so damn good after sleeping on hard, uneven ground for 5 nights. even the cabinet and lights are like a luxury to have. bottom line, field camp is seriously just chui man.

two weeks of army life has passed, 7 weeks more to POP! and yes, the details of army has already been graciously posted so we shall skip that (THANKS STEPH).

army isnt exactly that bad actually, maybe cos ive managed to mingle well with the rest of my grp people and also cos i think im in a relatively slack company with damn good (welfare) commanders. BUT.... civil life is always better, for obvious reasons.

field camp starts on the 1st of aug -> 6th aug. spending 6 days in nature, sleep in tents, sleep in the open, sleep in trenches, no showers, no clean clothes, and the list goes on. stimm, gonna be a real test and i hope i dont chui.

so the next time youll see/hear me will be on national day itself, sadly. please do update me with whatever's happening cos in tekong you have no connection to whatevers outside. and the papers by the time they reach you, they're not in a readable state anymore. so it feels like im missing out on a lot of stuff which sucks.

so far training has been okay, im becoming fitter, i run faster and i have abs of steel.

when im bored i wash my underwear!
every night i put a towel over my head and i stand at the void deck and close my eyes and let the wind blow and for a moment it actually feels like i have long hair :o

i sometimes spy at the platoon next door, got 12 zhabors one.
i have learnt how to curse and swear in fluent hokkien
and how to sing songs like IM A STEAMROLLER BABY (which i love btw)
im SONG I/C! so i practice 24/7, so much so that one day i had a bad sorethroat then keep zhaoxiaing, so paiseh...
luckilyy ppl cannot tell the diff when i sing properly and when zhaoxia.

alright, so the days have unfortunately passed by rather quickly and suddenly im faced with enlistment closer than ever (not forgetting the fact that ervin just entered into the spf today). honestly im having mixed emotions abt getting drafted. and while im not exactly looking forward to it, im not dreading it either. maybe what i dread most is having the freedom i have being taken away. this means no more suppers, no more late night msn chats, no more waking up at 1+ (5am wtf?!) and you can fill the rest up. but ill be trading for a better, healtier lifestyle no doubt. REGULAR meals, proper(?) fitness and probably an experience i can look back and smile at.

i found out that quite a number of people are entering on the same day as me, ex fairsians, poly mates, friend's friends and hopefully with them ard, ill be able to adapt fast enough so i (we) dont get slaughtered inside.

the pile of shit that i bought from mustafa and beach road are still in their plastic bags and i have yet to get started on packing my stuff for the 2 wk confinement. ive only gotten down to charging my spare phone batteries cos they're my only link to civilisation (i got four spare batts HAHA abit kiasu right).

photos from the cr, the parade started well with the audience capturing stuff like the fly past, ceremonial gun salutes, paratroopers etc but sucked towards the end when the performances started. no songs, no commentary, well they just seem to be doing their own stuff (not to mention no fireworks display either).

but i think this year's ndp on the bay will be interesting and refreshing from the previous ones at the national stadium, i like how they're using the sea to their advantage.

the p5 camp was a blast; probably becos i havent attended one in ages. there was alot that i missed doing during our time esp the ra-raing, the cheers, bunk inspections, mass bathing, crappy meals, fellowships and a damn campfire.

didnt manage to cover everything becos i was too busy shuffling between the photos and taking care of my own grp. thankfully i managed to rush and put up a short slide presentation of the photos during the campfire which was more than worthwhile.

been really busy the past few days with social pursuits and the p5 camp which btw was super. but we'll talk abt that later when i find time to edit and upload the photos.

teaching ended on friday and it has been a very enriching month at southview. chances are i probably learnt and made more friends in may than for the last 3 months. you always feel weird when you have to leave the people whom you begin to feel attached to but we move on anyway. and fortunately, we move on with a bang, literally hahah

the kids had their innochef lesson sometime back, but only managed to upload the photos yesterday. well their innochef is somewhat similar to our home econs cooking lessons in secondary sch. they only do the preparations though and in this case, since they're baking, they dont get to handle the oven. but still, they're only p2s !? had a great time helping them prep, too bad i didnt have my cam with me so got to bear with lower quality photos off the hp cam

spent almost the whole afternoon baking with the kids. apparently they have this thing called innochef where they are taught how to cook. somewhat similar to our home econs but at p2 ?!
