civil vs military two weeks of army life has passed, 7 weeks more to POP! and yes, the details of army has already been graciously posted so we shall skip that (THANKS STEPH). army isnt exactly that bad actually, maybe cos ive managed to mingle well with the rest of my grp people and also cos i think im in a relatively slack company with damn good (welfare) commanders. BUT.... civil life is always better, for obvious reasons. field camp starts on the 1st of aug -> 6th aug. spending 6 days in nature, sleep in tents, sleep in the open, sleep in trenches, no showers, no clean clothes, and the list goes on. stimm, gonna be a real test and i hope i dont chui. so the next time youll see/hear me will be on national day itself, sadly. please do update me with whatever's happening cos in tekong you have no connection to whatevers outside. and the papers by the time they reach you, they're not in a readable state anymore. so it feels like im missing out on a lot of stuff which sucks. hello my name is kenny and i love my mum. (hi mum) i love the army too, and everything that comes with it - my no 4 uniform, boots, rifle and lots and lots of blisters. so far training has been okay, im becoming fitter, i run faster and i have abs of steel. everyday i wake up at 5am to take a shower cos i buay tahan sweaty sweaty wake up then whole day sweaty sweaty sticky sticky aiyohhhh. when im bored i wash my underwear! every night i put a towel over my head and i stand at the void deck and close my eyes and let the wind blow and for a moment it actually feels like i have long hair :o i wake up at odd hours i sometimes spy at the platoon next door, got 12 zhabors one. i have learnt how to curse and swear in fluent hokkien and how to sing songs like IM A STEAMROLLER BABY (which i love btw) im SONG I/C! so i practice 24/7, so much so that one day i had a bad sorethroat then keep zhaoxiaing, so paiseh... luckilyy ppl cannot tell the diff when i sing properly and when zhaoxia. next week i have field camp, must run zig zag so wild boar cannot chase me!!! hope you all miss me because i'll be missing all of you <3 lurbbb, kennieeMAN. 3:18 AM 0 comments |

BOYS -> MEN alright, so the days have unfortunately passed by rather quickly and suddenly im faced with enlistment closer than ever (not forgetting the fact that ervin just entered into the spf today). honestly im having mixed emotions abt getting drafted. and while im not exactly looking forward to it, im not dreading it either. maybe what i dread most is having the freedom i have being taken away. this means no more suppers, no more late night msn chats, no more waking up at 1+ (5am wtf?!) and you can fill the rest up. but ill be trading for a better, healtier lifestyle no doubt. REGULAR meals, proper(?) fitness and probably an experience i can look back and smile at. i found out that quite a number of people are entering on the same day as me, ex fairsians, poly mates, friend's friends and hopefully with them ard, ill be able to adapt fast enough so i (we) dont get slaughtered inside. the pile of shit that i bought from mustafa and beach road are still in their plastic bags and i have yet to get started on packing my stuff for the 2 wk confinement. ive only gotten down to charging my spare phone batteries cos they're my only link to civilisation (i got four spare batts HAHA abit kiasu right). okay so salutes to those who have enlisted, cheers to those enlisting with me and balls to those still sucking their thumb. 5:22 PM 0 comments |

ndp cr photos from the cr, the parade started well with the audience capturing stuff like the fly past, ceremonial gun salutes, paratroopers etc but sucked towards the end when the performances started. no songs, no commentary, well they just seem to be doing their own stuff (not to mention no fireworks display either). but i think this year's ndp on the bay will be interesting and refreshing from the previous ones at the national stadium, i like how they're using the sea to their advantage. anyway some photos from the parade, these are all the air shit
